Name: Rag Tag Mac a.k.a. Scott Allen McNeil
Bio: Rag Tag Mac has turned not caring into a mystical art. Stoical on stage, he is the image of the unmoved Buddha…until he grabs the mic and begins to sing. On the mic his shaking leg, wild eyes and blood red face, and growling powerhouse voice brings the grit and soul of stripped down rock and roll to the Sideshow Tramps’ unforgettable stage show.
Though an amazing bluegrass mandolin and fingerpickin’ country-blues guitar player, Rag Tag leans toward dirty lesser known rock and roll bands. His songwriting prowess can be heard in the Sideshow Tramps songs he penned entitled “Shady Little Girl” and impromptu bluegrass recording of “General Leigh” as well as the songs played in his solo project the Mahas.
All this being said, Rag Tag spends a great deal of time studying meditation, mysticism and often prefers to set his musical ear on Phillip Glass and Taraf de Haidouks.
Rag Tag Mac has also played guitar and bass live and on albums with:
- J.W. Americana
- The Born Liars,
- and Gun Crazy
