Name: Uncle Tic a.k.a. Geoffery Muller
Put an instrument in his hand and he’ll play it. No, seriously, put almost any instrument in his hand and he’ll play it and if you don’t have one to give he will make one himself. Geoffery Muller aka Uncle Tic, has won best multi-instrumentalist every year from the Houston Press award show. In fact it could be said that the category was created because of him. Tic plays a wide variety of the standard instruments as well as some he made himself including trash can bass and cigar box guitar. One of the rare quiet moments at a Sideshow Tramps show comes when the audience leans in enraptured as Muller plays a common tree trimming saw by bending it with his hand and bowing it with a violin bow.
Tic studied mathematics and drama at the University of St. Thomas in Houston Texas. This combination show itself in the bizarre Eric Satie like melodies and harmonies he brings to the Tramps music coupled with the hilarious and charismatic quips he fires out to the belly laughing crowd.
Tic has played with bands from Bulgaria, gypsy guitarists, Tejano and ranchero bands, garage and death metal bands, bluegrass and country. the list of styles goes on and on. This breadth of musical experience comes out in every recording and live show of the Sideshow Tramps.
Uncle Tic has played live and on album with these bands:
- I45
- Lower
- Sean Reefer
- Robert Ellis and the Boys
- I am Messmer
